    Adobe Illustrator and TMcad

Does anyone use Adobe Illustrator and TMcad to make stuff? I'm having a heck of a time trying to get TMcad to open the dxf files I export from AI.

Here's my process in case I'm not doing something right with the save:
    0.5) I'm using CS3.
    1) I design my image in AI, making sure that all my paths are closed.
    2) I work in RGB color mode (not sure if that makes a difference).
    3) I make the male part of the piece black fill, and the female scrap pieces white fill (both with no stroke).
    4) The illustration is entirely within the Art Board.
    5) I make sure everything is UNgrouped.
    6) I make sure all compound paths are RELEASED.
    7) I make sure all female parts are brought to the front.
    8) When I export as a dxf, I select version 2000, 8-color, and preserve appearance.
    9) The illustration is all on one layer.
Sometimes this works, other times it just doesn't. Any tips??

I use CS3 for the origional drawings on many parts that I cut on the TM3. The CAD software that I am using is Profile Lab. All of my files are exported from CS3 as Illustrator 8. The only files that I have exported as DXF are from BobCad to Profile Lab. I'm not saying that the DXF won't work, its just that I've never done it thay way.

Depending on the version of Torchmate CAD, as well as the version of the AI file, TM Cad should import the Adobe Illustrator file directly in. However Torchmate CAD Version 5 will only accept older versions of AI files, the newer ones do not come in correctly.
