I live in north Tx and when I use Hot roll in the winter time I have a real rough time
the thicker the steel the worst it gets some times the the lead in and the lead out will be off 1/8 to 1/4

I think I allready know the answer to this question but would still like to hear some answers. Will extreme cold temperatures cause accuracy problems with a torchmate 2 machine?? I live in Ontario where it's sub zero temperatures now and unfortunately I have an unheated shop. Was trying to do a little work on the weekend and was having some major accuracey problems,,figured it was due to the cold. Just curious if I am right.

You might want to slowdown the stepper motors. When the motors are slowed down the torque increases. I'm thinking that the cold is causing more friction because of the lubrication getting thicker. Yes the machine will be slower....but you might be able to get the work done.
I've found that if I use rapid federate as opposed to just federate to go to a point the head may be out of position. This is a problem with using stepper motors without position feedback. If something stops them the computer doesn't have a clue and the head will be out of position.

If you have any moisture in the air it will cause restriction in air flow or freeze all together.Proper air delivery is very important to the cut quality.
