    Torfchmate 2 Lunges

I have a torchmate 2 and twice now it has lunged ahead. Happens when it's traveling between cuts,,gets almost to the next cut line, starts to slow down and then all of a sudden will lunge ahead abut 2" and then continue like nothing ever happened,,only problem is that now it's 2" off track. I can't find anything loose, everything looks good. Any ideas?? Would really like to figure this one out.

It sounds to me like the gantry may be binding up and loosing position in the rapid travel speeds between cuts. What you are noticing is the motors De-Accelerating and appearing to "lunge" forward.

Typical things to check for when the gantry is binding is making sure the gears aren't meshed in the gear rack too tight, perhaps putting extra stress on the motor to move the gantry. Also check to make sure that the gear rack is clean and there is nothing interfering with the motion of the gantry.

If you still can't seem to figure it out, give us a call and we can work it out.
