My laptop wich I run my torchmate 2 with only has one com port it failed I kept getting the error cannot communicate with signal controler I checked the port windows said this device is working properly it was not F#$%%^& Microsoft I called the people at torchmate and they said I could not use a USB to 232 cable I then purchased item C184-26886 from Tiger direct and ran the driver disc for it wich came with it then went to communicatins in the torchmate config and changed it to com 5 and it seems to be working perfectly
