    New Torchmate Table Build

Hello all, right off the bat I would like to say how nice these forums are,,I've been scanning them for some time now. I ordered a Torchmate 2 machine last week and was just going to order the material for my table but was wondering if i could get a couple opinions. Here is a link to the table i would like to copy http://www.torchmate.com/CCPC1compressedlarge.jpg I really like the looks of this table and was curious if anyone can see any problems with it. It appears to be a water table and that is what I want.
    Any opinions would be appreciated.
Another question,,do I need to supply the driveshaft for the machine, the assembly and start up instructions I downloaded show that I do and I just wanted to make sure before I order one.
    Tks again

That particular table design is a very clean integrated water table configuration, using angle iron to support the rails, rather then 3x3 tubing sitting on top of the feet. The only potential problem I see is that if weight happened to land on the outer edges of the rails, it could bend the angle iron downward, which will effect how the gantry rides along the rails.

Good observation Mike, I thought the angle would make it much easier to bolt the rails to.

Another question,,,do the rails need to stick out past the outside of the table or can they be flush? That would determine if 3" or 4" angle would be required for the top? I'm only going by the manual I dowloaded and it says the rails stick out 1".

If you have a welder, stick a few gussets on the angle iron. Still easy to bolt together, plus it would be strong enough to handle some weight.

Yup I have a couple welding machines and I was considering the gussets, but still curious if the rails need that 1" overhang

Really only if you ever intend to run a router/z axis attachment would you need the 1" overhang for the "capturing" cam follower. On a Torchmate 2 the gear rack runs along the inside rail, therefore the side of the 1/4 x 4 rail remains flush with whatever you are mounting it on.

It also looks like I was mistaken about the driveshaft, apparently that is an option for the Torchmate 2 kits, and only comes with it if purchased additionally, my facts were mistaken, I apologize.

One more reason I'll just stick on the Tech side here.

    Hi Mike
I am ordering Torchmate 3 bolt together set and thinking about water table now. Do you have any drawings, photos how it can be done.

Also, I was planning to order a router and probe sensor as I expect to have some woodwork. Is it practical to have so many diffrent tools on one table? does it take long to change plasma cutter to a router or probe sensor?
    Thank you in advance
    hopefully happy customer
