importing jpegs to torchmate cad software

I was importing a jpeg of some wall words that I want to cut, that I found on line, can you tell me the right procedure to do this?
I cleaned it up I did a trace but t didn't give me the option to create a tool path or make/break paths, I am confused, as it was a jpeg and I have used jpgs before for the program.... what did I do wrong or out of order?
what procedure do you use to geta jpg ready to cut, step by step? anyone?
