Height control - any other options

Been researching this for some time now and keep coming up to dead ends. Has anyone come up with any alternative to a height control other the one torchmate sells? Hard to justify spending more on that option than what my table costs.

Also if not possible, would it be easier to convert the torchmate to what you guys use as a DIY kit? Just change the control box and software and use a THC? Sorry I'm not all that familar with the ins/outs of the diy machines.

Since you posted in the Torchmate thread I assume you have a Torchmate table. That means the underlying electronics and driver software are probably FlashCut. You might check:

I have not priced the THC, but I expect it is reasonably priced.
