I run a 5-axis Schutte grinder that has the "Siemens 840D Control" so I'm not sure I can help, but I'll tell you what I know about the 840D.

When you first power up the machine, you have to reference out the ( X,Y,Z & C ) axis. The "A-axis" does not need to be referenced out, (on my machine/setup).

    To reference out the ( X,Y,Z & C ) axis, I do this:

    (1) Select " Jog Screen "

    (2) Press the soft key, " Reference All ".

    (3) Press the " X " Button on the Control Panel.

    (4) Press the " + " Button on the Control Panel.

    Note:
Make sure feed dial is turned up, so axis will move. And make sure you select " Reference All ", -----------> NOT " Reference Single" <-----------

I just noticed, this is in the "Test Forum". Did you really need help?

Or just testing a post out?

thank you swithcher. But our controll does'nt have the option for "reference all" as it is siemens 840 Di not 840 D only.It does not allow you to reference everytime you switch the machine .it is only referenced once when commissioned.

This is not a test run I really need help.We are really facing problems

Is this a new machine (Have you ever had it running)?

Any way to get a better screen shot of the control panel, http://www.cnczone.com/forums/attach...9&d=1162979667

Also what is the exact error your getting?

On my 840D, it has a MMC (Help File) that you can find out what needs to be done, to correct the error. Note: some remedies in that MMC are lame at best!

Do you have the machine manuals?

    jolliesconcept,

I have a link to the Siemens Forum:
    http://www.automation.siemens.com/WW...nferences.aspx

And a link to all the manulas in PDF that you should need.
    https://www.automation.siemens.com/d...06_e&scope=all

I would advise to get the manuals while you can, Siemens has this thing about changing links.

I think that Forum, should get you up & running.
