The controller power thing is indicating a (movement ?) fault, after which it does turn off the controller power to the motors. Hitting a limit switch or bumper at the end of the axis travel, or overcurrent on the motor from hitting a fixture are the normal causes for this. After homing the machine you should not really get the limit fault. If you can't move any axis (step or jog) at all without getting the fault then you've got something wrong. Do the X&Y move smoothly when you push on them with the controller powered off ? Best to back off from upper left corner to avoid having a home switch activated. Are the controller servo settings correct ? Jog speed too high can cause the fault, try low like 50ipm and work up. Check your wiring & connector seating on the motors and controller box.
