| Hi I am the biggest newb around and thought this would be the best area to ask a question. I am currently looking into learning how to operate and program on a 3 axis motion cnc router table, pretty much a machine like this one http://multicam.com/eng/Products/1000series.html . I don't really have any knowledge on them but was looking for a good way to learn how to use it. I live in Southern California and have checked into a couple of tech schools. Do you think signing up for a tech school would be good? |

| I teach high school woodworking in Massachusetts. We have had a Shopbot CNC router for 5 years. I didn't know a thing about using a CNC at first, I pretty much learned by trial and error. Start out simple and gradually try more difficult things. What are you using for CAD CAM software? The right software can make a huge difference in your learning curve. We have V-Carve and I highly recommend it if you don't already have it. My students catch on to it very quickly. |

| Hiya! and welcome to the forums ![]() This site is good for basics, although not specificaly dedicated to your particular machine it has loads of good basic information. http://www.jjjtrain.com/vms/library.html Good luck! one thing I would mention is Safety... the machine will do exactly what you tell it to do without saying "hey, that's plunging at rappid feed into the table!" Don't be afraid to ask questions, folk here are dead friendly and eager to help.
