    Fixture plate for TAIG mill

I have a new to me CNC Taig Mill.

A fixture plate looks like a great and easily adaptable workholding system. I'm wondering anyone can recommend a specific model.

The ones that I know about are:
    A2Z
    High Tech Systems Taig
    High Tech Systems Generic

DeepGroove1 also appears to sell the generic High Tech Systems one.

I like the idea of these plates because they look very adaptable.

Has anyone used these? Can they recommend a good one?

Don't forget about the Taig 2010 tooling plate:

4" x 14" x 5/8" Tooling plate for Mill. Bolts down to either 2018 mill table or 2019 mill table. Plate has 56 10-32 holes that are 1" on center spaced
It is thicker than most of the other units out there as well.

The A2Z units are nice as you can get one that is pre-drilled for a Sherline rotary table. It comes down to which unit will best suit your needs. I've had folks buy the A2Z unit as it was not as large as the Taig 2010 so it fit his particular needs better for the project he was working on.

I was also wondering about table width. It seems like a wider table would give some more room for fixtures. A 4" wide table seems like it would run out of room quickly when bolting items down.

Do users find that more holes (like on the plates from High Tech Systems) are useful or overkill?

I really like this homemade plate, but haven't found a commercial one that is similar:

The dimensions seem good and I like dowel pins. I'm just not very excited about tapping all of those holes myself.

I never heard back from High Tech Systems, so I ordered the A2Z one. The hole spacing is pretty low, but I can always add additional ones.

I also just looked into making my own. The raw material is around $30 on eBay. I might do some small dedicated fixtures out of it down the line.

I was considering buying one manufactured by WWA . I made my own based on the one at finelinehair because it seemed silly getting something shipped to Australia that I could make myself. Saying that, making my own was very boring as all the holes were drilled with a bench drill, tapped and deburred by hand. I think It took me a whole day. Don't think I would do it again but I am still learning and it was an experience. To help with the tapping I made a spring center from the projects in metal page , as a result I did not break a single tap on the 120 holes and without it I think I would have given up. Hope this helps.

    All the Best

I also have the Taig 2010 and found it to be an excellent value. I think they are about $60 with screws.
