CNC Taig mill

Anybody out there have a cnc taig mill?

I have a CNC Taig, nice lil machine.

Any picture of it? what are you using for a controller?

I'm seriously considering a Taig or Sherline right now for the limited metal milling that I could be doing. I can get a new Sherline 5400 that's has the stepper mounts for under $700

I'm not really seeing much out there in regards to the Taig machines.

I've got an extra controller and motor setup. all I really need is a "CNC ready" machine

Does anyone have and links or any info regarding getting great deals on Sherline or Taig mills? I'd like to know a little more about the Taig before I drop the dough.

I am buying a Taig cnc ready Mill off Nick Carter of Carter tools he has the best prices around! I bought a small lathe off him a few years ago. He is a great guy to deal with.
I am going to buy the 2019CR mill off him. It is all setup and ready to just install your stepper motors and software for $786.25
that mill will give you a cutting area of z-6" y-5.5" x-12"

I also ordered some 187oz steppers fromHerbach & Rademan

Im going to keep everybody informed on how the progress is going and prices as I go along. This might help someone new out there!

Well I just recieved a 3/8 end mill arbor that nick carter made. Looks really nice. Still waiting to recieve my mill though. Hopefully she will be here soon! The arbor can be seen on my web page under TAIG MILL.

Hey Just wanted to show some pictures of my mill so far. Its on my website.

I hooked the "Y" axis up and was able to get 56.25 Inches Per Minute in TURBOCNC! Way more then I thought I would get. I tried 75IPM and the steppers stalled after a bit. I am sure it will do 60 IPM no problem. But 56 IPM is plenty fast enough for me. I am impressed with the mill. It is very smooth and looks rugged. I have a china mini mill sold by Homier. And I would have to say the Taig Mill tops it quality for sure! I should have bought one of these a year ago when I was thinking about it and talked myself out of it. Well worth the money!

That look very well built, better than my micro mark mill. How much does it weigh?

Im guessing it weighs less then the micro marks or homier mill. somewhere aroung 105 pound I believe. ONe thing I noticed with my homier mill is the the more you try to hog off the more the head stock wants to flex! Try this, Put a dial indicator in your chuck on your micro marks and bring it down till it just touches the table. Now grab the top of the head stock and pull it to you. I was getting aroung .030 or more flex in it! Way more then I wanted! I have seen where people have made bracketts that bolt to the headstock then to the becnch or lower unit of the mill. this would stiffen it up.
The Taig is so smooth that I can spin the not on any axis with just my fingers and make that axis table move. It almost flows it goes so smoothly. I did spend alot of time cleaning and polishing all the ways.
My homier is very hard to turn even with the handle. I spent 2 days going through it. I dont like the way the threaded rods are setup. and the nuts in it.
I have not cut no metal yet with this Taig and Im sure it will not take off as much as the Homier will at one time. But if I dont have to crank that dam handle then Im Happy.
