so were the screws and brass nuts part of a kit? I dont know how I would feel about using metal on metal for motion. I would imagine it would cause increased wear....

Fixitt- On the taig the cnc "ready" is equipped with the brass nut no matter what. Unless someone wants something different, they will need too make one.

yes it's a bronze split nut with adjustment screws to lower backlash. Bronze on steel is fine; dissimilar metals are a good thing. zero backlash ball screws would be better but I'll try this first. thanks, Alan
