Mach3 with Taig Motor Feed Rate Problem

After lurking and reading for some some time, then buying a little Taig/Mach3 setup, this is my first post. I tried to find information regarding this on the cnczone site but I am not smart enough to search on the proper term.

Here's my setup...

In short its a Taig running the free Mach3 software.

Here the problem, Y & Z feed just fine. When using the keyboard to move the table, Y feeds @20 Units/Min and Z feeds @10.31 Units/Min. However X feeds then stops and buzzes. I can only move X while tapping the keyboard in short increments. Also, to guarantee no slipage I feed dog slow because of the X issue.

I think if I even new what the problem was called I could figure it out.

Whats the problem?

Thanks in advance. And in closing, I have to say, I have enjoyed reading posts and truly appeciate those who have taken the time to make this site informational beyond compare. Maybe as I learn I will be smart enough to do the same for others.

Try lowering the acceleration for the X axis by about half.

It worked!

In Mach3 I went to Config -> Motor Tuning and here were my original settings...

I changed Velocity and Acceleration on X and Y to equal that of Z where Vel=10.314 & Acc=.05625

It works like a champ.

Thanks

Also check your x axis gib adjustments, if the gib is not correctly set it will stick in one direction and effect feed accordingly...

Also check with whoever supplied the drive and see what their recommended settings are (I don't recognize that control box - where did you buy the mill from?)

The controller is xylotex. I bought the complete 4 axis setup on eBay.

missing steps

I was getting missed steps when I first set up my machine.

similar setup to you:xylotex 4 axis controller, mach 3......

I had to readjust the mach3 settings and it hasnt skipped since.
I do alot od 3d contouring so i also cant feed rate that fast.

I got my settings off the yahoo "xylotex" forum "McFaddens setup"

It is what the guy from xylotex recommended to me when I asked him.

I am not sure off hand what the settings are but cross referencing to what I mentioned would be useful.

You might want to try increasing the pulse width settings to 2 and see if that let's you increase the acceleration a little. I notice you have them set to 0 in your pics.

Your steps per inch are to high, try 8000 instead of 32000. Set your inches per minute at 30 and your step pulse width at 10. Do this for all axis, this is how I set up my machine. Andrew

Your acceleration should be some where around 2, for me it sounded good. the sherline 1/2 pulse width should be on in LODGIC>PORTS AND PINS on the first page. Again the step pulse width and the DIR pulse width should be 10.
