Unhappy need instructions on wiring limit sw's on taiga

I have a taig mill using a stepmasternc model sop-2 controller. I have mounted
the limit switches to the taig and need to how to wire them. Do I need a
breakout box for the 25 pin printer cable and if so where do I connect the
wires? Can't find much on this on the net. Help!

I am not sure what the answer would be, other than getting a breakout and wiring them directly as the Stepmaster has no provision for that.

I really came here to say you really should not bother with the Stepmaster. You will just be wasting time, materials and ensuring a lot of grief. They were notoriously bad, even in their day, and things have come even further since then. Unfortunately their bad reputation was richly deserved. It really just isn't suitable for driving a Taig. Sorry.

i would suggest getting something newer, many drivers now already have breakouts and such built in anyway. No reason throwing good money after bad getting a breakout for that thing.

lots of good options. most people now go with a gecko 540, as its under $250, powerful, simple, bulletproof, and has a lot of the stuff an advanced breakout board has built-in already like a charge pump and places for inputs and outputs including for relays. you would certainly need a new power supply (maybe motors, too, maybe not), so its at least $300 you are looking at going that way. it is really, really worth it though.
there are some cheaper options as well if budget is an issue. what are the specs of the motors you have already? that might help us find a suitable driver for them.
