    How HOT???

I have DSLS system and my question to everyone (TAIG ) any system any motors... How hot do your drive motors get??

    1. Idol - Say driver box is on but computer not booted for about 10 min

    2. Computer booted and Mach 3 loaded 10min- Please list windows XP or
Vista as I ran about 10 - 15 hotter in vista.

    3. After G-code run for say 5 or more min.

    4. Also what max temp has your pulley motor gets? At the lower portion next tot he mounting bracket... THE HOT PART.

I know there are a lot of config and variations of things that will make people have deferent #'s but I want a base line or just understand what temps other people have on this stuff.

1st off... I'm in Cali.. and its already hot with out my mill/computer on in a small 10' x 5' shed!

    Me.

    1. 110
    2. about 105 Windows XP
    3. about 110 but need I still need to run something hard to get correct temp.
    4. Need to check

I will be update this post later as I know It needs corrections.,

What motors are you referring to?

Stepper motors do run hot, it is not uncommon for them to be 120 deg F and most are rated to 180 deg F. The spindle motor will also get warm, but not to hot to touch. The spindle itself will get warm as well. The faster you are turning the spindle the warmer it will get. Once the bearings in the spindle get broken in it will run a bit cooler.

BTW, using XP or Vista makes no difference. The driver box has no idea about the operating system.

    WOW 180!!

I'm useing the stock taig motor and DSLS 3000 Servo motors. The motor was test run without pulleys hooked up the the spindle.

What I was hoping for this post is what hardware people are using and how hot it get?

    Thanks for the replay
