New Cabinet for my Mill and lathe

    All,
I finally finished (if this is even possible!#?@) my new cabinet for my mill/lathe setup.
a lot of the design was taken from what others have done as well as being an improvement from my old table.

    New table:
    Constructed from 1.5 x 1.5 x 1/8 square tubing
    Removable wood panel sides
    Locking wheels.
Internal cooling for the PC as well as the controller. (see fan grill near back left corner)
Built in drain pan with reservoir, filter and pump
Converted the mill over to variable DC motor from old AC one
Shelf with drawer to house electronics.
    Better flood/manifold system multiple valves.
table food print is 30" tall 30" deep and 72" wide
Removable lexan splash guards all sides. (they just slide in from the top.)
Improved monitor mount it swivels as well as moves up and down.
All electronics have been re wired to include all easily removable cables
as well as all being shielded.

    Need to add:
Finish the front doors they will be sliding ones. 3 of them.
Add the 3-7 drawers on the left side for tooling.
Build the top cover door for any splashing out of the top.

I posted lots of pics. "I know we all love pics!"

Here is the back side Notice: intake duct on the lower left.

    The drawers...

    The inside top

The leftover space for some future drawers to keep tooling in.

    very cool.
    are those stepper motor dampers?
what kind of coolant are you running?
what are you planning for the cover?

    great job.

    Steve,
Yes, I built them some time ago, with information found here. The thread is quite long but filled with excellent information
    <CncZone Damper thread>
The coolant is Syn-kool I have in the past been running wd-40 with some cutting oil added. and have abso no problems. My only worry was the flammability of the stuff. after some more reading and post I went with another users "Daniel aka: Hossmachine' recommendation. So as of now I have not even cut 1 part. I'll post my findings when I get some

I have not built the cover yet because I wanted to see how much space it would take up when its up. I want to be able to have it fold out of the way entirely right now all the panels lift out with minimal effort. resulting is access from all sides. and will store away either on the back or the under carriage. I have room in both places but have not made the holding slots yet. because I'm thinking I might want to put the lid in with it. "decisions... decisions..."
I'll post up some pics with the covers removed. I went with some Aluminum channeling to build most of it . 1: because its readily available. 2: its a crap load cheaper then 80/20.

    -Sam

    Great looking bench/enclosure, you have given me some good ideas to try out with my own build. Coupla questions;

how are the beams the mill and lathe are mounted on attached to the bench, cant quite figure it out from the pics, looks like perhaps angle section sitting in the trough cut-out?

also any new pics of the finished product? would love to see how the front panels turned out.

    Cheers

I would consider the above as the veratility is there especially when halfway through and a new brainstorm means some 'modification' boshrexroth has extruded shapes ready to go. Hinges, doors frames etc. Being worldwide, I'm sure they are near you.
Wrong post? not sure what to make of this.
