    Exclamation Weight Restrictions

    Hello;

    I want to use a angled rotary table on a set-up. Vises/rotart tables can be fairly heavy. I was wondering if there is a weight restriction on the Mill table bed to prevent damage to gears/ ways or screws etc... If the mill weighs in at 90 lbs is there a max ratio that the vise weight can be?

    If the rotary table is 6-10" to have some overhang on each side?

    Thanks;
    BN

    I don't think that will work too well

    Especially with a CNC Taig, which can lose steps if there's too much binding on the ways. The 4" Sherline rotary table would be a better choice. If you add an angled holder to it, that will add some weight, but not too much if you use the tilting angle table that Sherline makes: Tilting Angle Table Of course, you'd need to either redrill it or provide another plate to mount it to the Taig. If you do use that monstrous rotary table, at least mount it in the middle of the travels to reduce cantelievering - no guarantees, though...

    I just called microproto and asked Kurt this same question not even a week ago. His answer was 45 pounds on the table should be about the limit, and the motors may not be able to keep with full speed (30ipm) movement at less weight than that with the 200oz stepper motors they provide with their machines.

    My vise weighs in at 28lbs, and I can track at 30ipm just fine.
