    taig mill as plotter?

Maybe this is a dumb question, but can this be done? I was wanting to cut some holographic tape.

    I don't see why not

as long as your tape fits comfortably in the work envelope. All you'd need is a fixture to hold the tape down securely to a spoilboard, and a drag-knife that fits in the spindle. Here's one that would probably work:

You'll probably have to design and build the fixture yourself, though. The site above has some pressure feet that you might be able to adapt, but a vacuum pod would probably help as well.

While a Taig mill can be used if you already have it, but if you need to buy one would it not be better to look at something designed for the work you want to do?
The Taig mill has limited travels, table size and is very slow compaired to a router/plotter.

Hey thanks, Yes I would agree but, I checked and I needed to cut holographic tape and minimum recommendation plotter for that was going to start at $1500.
I just didn't want to invest that much at the trial and error stage. This tool/cutter with a couple extra tips is costing $185.
