Hi,
Try Apex 9100. I use it exclusively in my machining center. A bit pricey, but I get ZERO rust, it has excellent lubricity during cutting, low viscosity, and even smells good.
Robert.
My Taig hates water.
If I sneeze on it she will rust!
I've had my enclosure for about 3 years now. I've tried various types of coolant with little success.
Using plumbers oil for about 3 years which seems to work terrific but there's only one problem the plumbers oil is very thick and my new pump (smaller/less noise ) just can't keep up for to long.
I've attached a pic of rust just from a resent test run with my new enclosure running water. This is a pic of the motor but my mill would end up like this a bit later.
Note: Water did not even touch the matching and was cleaned out within
10 min. The next day this is what I see.
1. What are you using?
2. how long have you used it?
3. Any rust at all?
Thanks,
Jay,

I am interested in more suggestions for this too. It seems like we are not supposed to use the koolmist 77 stuff on these mills and I am just waiting on my pump before I start running this mill. Anyone have good luck with something cheaper than apex9100? Especially since anyone using this for a hobby is likely to leave it sitting for a week unused fairly often.
I am doing flood coolant too.
Pancho,
What's the capacity of your sump? If the Apex 9100 is priced too high, another idea you may try is straight Tap Magic. A bit thicker than the apex, but lighter than cutting oil. Only for flood, though, you wouldn't want to use it for misting.
You really can't beat the apex, though. It leaves a protective film on machine surfaces that lasts for months.
R.
PS. You do know that you dilute the 9100 aprox 15:1, right?
Trim E206 water soluble oil. Relatively inexpensive.
No rust and no stink in my VMC, but I do aerate the sumps with an aquarium air pump and air stones to be safe.

Thank you Rob and Joe,
Considering all the new post with pics of peoples flood/coolant systems, I expected to see a lot more posts as to what coolant people are using.
So please, if you're using coolant specifically with your taig mill post to this thread as I'm sure there are a lot of nonmembers that could benefit from this information.
Thanks in advance!
I use water and Glycol. Regular car antifreze. Never had a issue. My mill is also out in a tent shop, freezes in there constantly. I use ATF to lube the ways. at beginning of each day
I use Kool mist as flood, mixed pretty strong, never seen rust yet.
