Sherline mill saddle to base slides

Has anyone found a good way to fix galled slides on a Sherline 5400 mill base to saddle slide ? mine has the black portion starting to be worn off and now the steppers don't have enough power to move the saddle, I did adjust the gibbs but it did not help. I was wondering could a person mill the surfaces and apply turcite, would it last long or even stand up at all. Or is replacing the pieces with new the way to go ?

I had to go look at one of my mill bases to get the geometry back in my mind. Obviously you have only time and materials to lose trying the turcite. If I were you looking at replacement I would look at the A2ZCNC extended base and table. I have them and am very well pleased with the extra travel in the X and Y axis. I know that the X axis on the A2T saddle has turcite on it.

I had the same problem. I fixed with JB weld, work like a charm now.
