My Taig Setup And Ready To Go!

Well I have finished all the wires and everything is lubed and greesed. The machine is ready to go! I have engraved a few names with it so far. I am very impressed with it. nice little rig!

Those boxes I got at Radio Shack. They are just small project boxes. I drilled a hole on the bottom of the box and put the stepper motor wires thru the hole. then doubleside tape to the stepper I then have another hole on the other end for the wire that comes from my controller. I wire capped on all the wires and screwed the cover to the box on. Takes the strain off the wires and looks very neat I think!
Nothing looks worse then seeing wire just hanging! I like to do a neat job. While I was waiting for my mill to arrrive I repainted my bench. Thats why it looks so clean.

Here is a timing wheel gear for a clock I cut out on my Taig mill.
MY GOOD FRIEND STEVE sent me the gcodes for it. Thanks Steve. So far I am very impressed with the whole mill!! Picture is kind of blurry. Sorry..

Looks like your machine cuts very well, the shape of the gear teeth is out of the ordinary. Well done!
It's the first time I see teeth like this.
I think i must send all my gearcutting jobs to you.....LOL

YA it is copper. Its a pcboard I had laying around. I cut it from 1/8 plywwod first but the teeth were so small some just broke off. So I had this board laying there and said I bet that would work! And there you have it! Ill attach a picture of the one done in wood.

The gear is the escape wheel of a clock. It is the last wheel in the drive train. The ramps on the crowns of the teeth push on the escapement to swing the pendulum.

Well I had my machine setup wrong! It was only giving me half the size it should have. I have that now straightened out. This is the size the wheel should be. The bigger one. the teeth did not like to be cut out as you can see. It was Maple wood. The grain is to long. Need a tighter grain wood or maybe metal!

Here are some gears and a start to me actually making this clock. I found some press board that seems to work pretty good so far. I just want to get one clock together so I know how everything works better. The gears above were just practice gears..

Here is a curcuit board I did on the machine today. Came out nice. I just need to do a couple more things and Ill have it drill all the hole too. Getting there though!
SO don't let anyone tell you you can't do curcuit boards on a Taig mill! I know a curtain person that that has said that! HMMM.
Maybe this board looks familur too him!!!
