Nice build
My first two CNC machines were build with aluminum / MDF & plywood and for my 3rd machine I plan to make it all out of 8020.
Hopefully will tell us your experience about deflection and accuracy.
Did you cut/drill the aluminum or you had it done in a machine shop?
It was a machined by a buddy who does it for a living. Still had to pay for the labor though, but at least it was buddy price...
If I had to doit again I would use extrusion from Misumi, there are various threads on this brand, I beleive it is a bit more cost effective. I ended up with only .010" difference between one end and the other, which was remedied by flycutting the surface of my substrate which is 1 1/2" high density particle board, sealed with poly on all sides.
Good job, thank you
I have a breathing CNC...![]()
