Hello everyone,
after first not so successful attempt of building a small (~500 x 600 mm workspace) CNC router / 3D printer with Igus Drylin leadscrews and bushings, I am looking for a new linear motion options with a belt drive system.
Aluminium extrusions used are ITEM 80x80 and 80x40, with a single groove on 40 side and two grooves on 80 side.
Machine would be used for engraving plastic mostly, some woodworking and rarely for some aluminium cutting/engraving.
Can you guys share your experiences and thoughts about linear rails and carriages (Hiwin, etc.), linear bearings (SBR type, etc), ball bearings (v wheel, u wheel, regular ones, etc). Important factor would be price/performance ratio. Are linear rails and carriages worth paying that much, or it is possible to go cheaper with similar results?
Thank you in advance.
