    Hi All,

    I'm new to metal working and have a quick question, what are the advantages and disadvantages of using t slots vs aluminium u channels and tubes for a new CNC?

    Well there's the obvious, T slot has slots to bolt to saves precise drilling that would otherwise be needed. But imo standard weight profiles are not strong enough alone. So you should be looking at the heavy weight profiles which are not cheap.

    Channel I can imagine on its own may resonate a fair bit.

    First, what kind of CNC are you talking about?

    T-Slot extrusions tend to be more rigid, and easier to assemble.

    Aluminum channels and tubes are not really suitable for building a decent machine.
