HELP!!!! X4+ made a bad noise!!!!

I have an 2008 X4+, Purchased Oct 08 (well paid for it in July, but wasnt landed till Oct)
Machine has a total of less than 10hrs on it in that 18months!!

Worked on it all weekend until yesterday, when I turned it on heard a slight electrical short come from the back

Machine powers on, screen lights up ok, but is constantly displaying 'E-STOP'?

Have opened it up to look for any obvious damage but found nothing....and no tell tale smells located.....

Any troubleshooting help / advice would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!

    Thanks in advance

    your x4+ also display "E-stop"?
please connect computer and start the computer at first, than open the x4+,I think the E-stop will disappear.

Your website is EXCELLENT...very well setup now and good range of equipment.
I havetwo URGENT faults with X4Plus.
    Â
Fault first machine:Â Shows E Stop error. Motor made a buzz noise then E stop showed on panel. Will not run.
Fault 2nd machine. Goes ok. BUT no contrast on dispaly panel and text on screen is very washed out and hard to see. Like brightness of this panel too high.
    Â
Please would request your urgent suggestion to solve problems.
Many thanks.. Brian...MtM Tools. New Zealand

i got NZ dealer emails, and will reply to him or you directly..

    Hi SyilCNC,

I have tried connecting the computer, then switching mill on - to no avail

started mach3 but had an error regarding E-STOP active, and toggled mach3 switches but no difference. after switches were toggled I was able to clear the E-Stop error on Mach3 but had no effect on the mill

    Cheers

    A huge THANKS to Keith!

sent me some pics with things to check so got me back in there, only to find that the 10A fuse was blown!

And funnily enough the neon light on the housing is there to indicate a problem, not that its all ok!

So feeling rather silly but hugely greatful that it wasnt anything serious!!

    Thanks for your help everyone!!

    Now back into it

    Cheers

Wether or not it is serious might depend on what caused the fuse to blow.

I believe in this case the fuse was bad/ fuse wire wasnt correctly attached to the end cap

It failed inside the end cap and left a pin hole through the cap, yet left the length of fuse wire visible intact

Been using for about 5hrs since with no problem
