I'd like to know too... X5 Linear... Whats that? And yes the American site needs an update badly...
Canadian sites good though... http://www.syil.ca/
Linear what? Bearing rails? Actuators?
Help a fellow out here? What does the use of "Linear" relate to.
Just getting started on finding a mill suitable for a home shop and light commercial (possibly) use.
The Syil Websites really need an update!
We are offering a full range of models using high-speed linear rails. The benefit to linear rails include processing and positioning accuracy of less than 0.01mm (10 microns) or (0.0003937 inches). Syil has revised the base casting to enhance stability, and this base casting is proprietary to only Syil along with high precision double nut circulating ball screws for high-precision repositioning and unmatched repeatability
When we referring to linear, we are meaning the the machines do not have traditional gibbs and ways, they utilize linear ways. the linear ways act like a track that the table moves freely on and can not come off.
Linear ways are more precise that the traditional gibbs and ways, traditional gibbs and way need adjustments and work based on friction. So the linear ways move freely on bearings and do not require adjustment, due this fact they have a longer life span.
The linear rails have tighter tolerances over long distances and have accuracy that can be measured in microns.

Thats pretty cool! Thanks!
I don't want to jack trevj1's thread but you probably remember me. I contacted you about an X4 Speed Master/X4 today.
Whats an X5/+ go for compared to the X4/+?
I'm liking the idea of going linear but I'm sure there's pro's and con's...
What do you think Trev?
No problem, is there a email I can send you information 2? Or if you would like send me a email to Keith@SyiL.ca and I get you lots of info.
I'd love to see pictures that show the linear ways. All I have seen so far is the dovetails with gibs in the photos.
Linear ways are what Haaas runs on all their products IIRC.
Just noticed that when one clicks on the banner ad, and clicks on the Syil Canada "www.syil.ca", it links through to the Syil America site rather than the Canadian one.
Not very helpful, really, is it?
The syil.ca site is much better presented.
Have you been able to find anything about the X5?
I'm gett'in nothin...
Just what is written on the .ca site.
Have not been digging with a whole lot of enthusiasm. Still in the stage of learning what is available.
if you have any questions or i can help you in any way feel free to give me a call @ 403-400-7945
Thanks for the offer Keith.
One of these days I'll get through Calgary with some actual time on my hands, rather than rocketing through on a "mission".
Do you generally have any machinery set up and running that can be viewed, or are you not really set up for such?
