    Machining Ti

    I have attached 4 photo's of a X4plus machining a clock escapement wheel.
    25mm dia. 30 teeth
    Material is Ti 1.1mm thick.
1mm dia. tc endmill, 0.2mm per depth of cut @ 2200RPM 30mm/min feed rate and lots of WD40 as coolant.

I bonded the blank onto a piece of smooth plastic using constrution strength LocTite, but the wheel became loose before the final 4 teeth were finish, it's not good practice to hold down such a small component with ones finger on a CNC machine, it also gets hot, ouch!!
The next one, I used Super Glue bonded onto a piece of brass plate, this worked much better, with a little help from a small screw driver broke the bond.

    Nice!

For works like this one is where the speedmaster helps a lot, but given enough time as you demonstrated, it can be done on a regular sx3 or x4+ too.

on a side note, there is no need to convert photos to PDF to upload them, just resize to something like 800x600 or 1024x768 and use the same method of upload.
