| I am having trouble with my 4th axis when using my new X4+ everything seems to be set up correctly but when i try and change the axis it always goes to a greater angle than i asked it to do. I am using Mach 3 software to run the machine and i think it a setting in that that i may have incorrectly set up. I have looked through all the options i cannot find what i have missed. I have told it that the 4th axis is angular in the general config. any help anyone can give would be greatly appreciated |

| maybe the motor is not configured properly, try the following: put your 4th axis scale at zero. goto settings screen (alt-6) and press the set steps per unit button (bottom left of the screen) then select the A axis and tell the wizard to move 100 units using the scale in the 4th axis read how far it moved and enter this value accept the change Now move the axis any desired amount and verify if its correct. After a couple of iterations of this procedure you should have a pretty accurate 4th axis, no need to do it more times because you will start jumping between two similar values each time. good luck |

| thanks peu, thanks syil. I have tried as Peu suggested and it seems to work well. However tryin 2 measure an angle accurately is quite difficult and was wondering wats a better way to do this thanks syil. i believe i downloaded the config from the syil china website. another problem i am now having is the 4 axis will move fine (eg G00 A90), however to move the axis back i have to do the reverse command (G00 A-90) rather than the command that i should be using (G00 A00). the 4 axis will only rotate to +/- commands from the point it was last at rather than working from a zero point. |

Put in the init string (config>general config) G90, absolute coordinate system, and you should do fine. You can check the current status of your mill config in a string on the top right part of your mach3 screen. Good Luck |
