i think the c6 is not yet on par with the x4 option wise as for book that have not been written since a hundred year well the answer is simple most of what as been written about manual mill a 100 years ago still apply today so i guess that is why there is nothing new then why are there new book about lathe? well maybe i am mistaking but i think lathe are more common then mill

Or even get a manual lathe. Think about why there are so many books on (manual) lathes.

If you are attempting to use a CNC mill and haven't even considered a lathe, let alone used one, then you started your machinist’s education on about the last three pages of the "book". You need to start on page 1.

That’s the trouble with the youth today. If a computer doesn’t run it they think it's of no use.

I can't believe I just said that, but it is true.

Phil

PS: People think that a computer-operated machine tool is easier to operate than a manual machine. Just feed in a drawing, press start and parts start fall out the other end. Oh how wrong can they be? If you are not capable of use a manual machine tool you're definitely not capable of using a CNC one.

Seems that there are lots of books about lathes. It is interesting. I cannot find a single book on how to use a mill that wasn't written 100 years ago, but I can find many books on lathes.

Does anyone know why there are no books on mills and milling and tons of books on lathes?

Also, should I get a Syil lathe, or another CNC lathe?

Thanks,

Will...

definitly i remember my file session when i did my machinist course god i hated it but it made me learn to get the feel of the material and it was not primordial but it bot me a base to start learning my trade

X4Plus problem cont...

Hi,

We got the boards in and they are Rev. 1.4 for the 5axis control boards and the display to the small master control board near the power supply on the bottom back has a connector that appears to be a network line from the display to that board. Also seems to be a revison upgrade.

Anyone have any docs on how to wire this up? I have replaced all the boards, but I have no wiring diagrams.

Boards replaced;
1. Front panel
2. Controller board
3. 5-axis board

Is this the Rev. 3 upgrade? I cannot find any docs on it at all anywhere.

Thanks,

Will...

Hi Will,
I don't have any wiring diagrams, but with good help from Syil China and Syil Canada, we managed to replace some cards. If you send me your contact details, and I'll try to talk you through the setup.

Kind Regards,

Mats

New Doc from Syil for X4Plus

Syil told me this morning that this is a new document.

Here is the URL: http://www.syil.cn/tem/x4+.rar

I am not sure if anyone else has this, so here is the link.

those are still not trully accurate document when it come to spec for instance it says x travel is 280mm but keith at syil.ca told me that it was really 400mm also this is an error on all the site but on the mill head it says speed is 300 - 3500 but the document and all there site says 100 - 3500 keith told me that it will go down to 100 but that the torque is not efficient at 100

The speed.

My SX3 actually 200 RPM to 3600 RPM.
As for the torque If you hit the current limit, it stops.
My hard and softlimits detailed in the PDF.
It is possible to have 385 z travel with the correct gas strut(s)
