SYIL X3 COOLANT FUSE

Hi everybody

I have been running the X-3 real hard for about a year, only had one problem and that was I did not set the soft limits and ran the Y axes in till it hit the Z column and dumped the balls, corrected that problem with a roll pin instead of the Jesus clip.

Now I need some HELP, I had a carbon fiber job and decided to plug my shop vac into the coolant receptical and that did not work, it must have blown the fuse. I can not find the coolant fuse and I am wondering if someone can give me some help in what area or board it is on or did I wipe out the relay with the extra amperage.

Just some background, I have been in a machine shop since I was 6 yrs old, father owned a shop and when he retired I took it over, as they say " I know the business from the ground up" I am now retired at 62 and my son has taken it over.

Hello RMD,
I am not sure how your X3 was wired but I wired mine per instructions found on the SyilAmerica website. An inline fuse holder was used in my machine and it is wired to a bus bar accessable from the top rear cover of the X3 control box. I wired mine with the inline fuse holder at the the bus bar end towards the top, but it could be postioned towards the bottom end. You should be able to trace the wire by removing both covers from the back, be sure to disconnect the power line first. It may have been done differently on your machine, but you should be able to trace the wires to the receptical and find an inline fuse if there is one. There are 2 other fuses that I am aware of( one on the spindle board[big PCB] and another on the BreakOutBoard, but I doubt they would have burned out from plugging the vacuum in. Hope this helps you out in some way.

METALWORKZ

Thanks for the reply, I will clean up the mill tomorrow and get my son to move it away from the wall and then find the fuse.

Does anyone know what the max amp fuse I can install.

Hello RMD,
The fuse rating in the wiring instructions calls for 5 amp max. for this circuit.
Here is a link to the .pdf file with a full description of it.

I have a current spindle problem on my machine so I will probably be opening mine up tomorrow also to do some work on it. Good luck, and I hope you are able to find the fuse and get it running soon.

Regards,
