| Really good. With Z steps of 0.25mm you could just see the line but in no way could I feel it. With a final measure on last pass on this job maintaining 0.01mm between parts and I stacking two parts and turning around parallel surfaces within 0.003mm as best I can measure. Job tolerance is +/-0.01mm so I am happy with it. This was on CR12 stainless steel which is the stuff used for making knife blades in meat munching machines. B1tch of a job to clean the machine afterwards. This gray gunk like all grinding machines seem to get. Need different coolant for grinding maybe.

| Please pardon my OT. Have you seen this before? Wondering what your thoughts might be about this drive. Thanks http://www.nexengroup.com/nexen/index.jsp |

| CNC made pinions without a gear hob. As long as the geometry on the rack matches it may be OK. Whether the geometry gives the perfect linearity possible with involute gears needs some analysis before committing to the way they drove windmills. I am not saying it won't work. Just make sure that the limits are within the tolerance of the application. |
