I don't have an x4 myself, but a couple people have posted their x4 Mach3 profiles. See the attachments in the following posts:

http://www.cnczone.com/forums/showpo...9&postcount=29

I hope one of those works for you.

Thanks for the profiles.

I have downloaded, then renamed the existing Mach3Mill.xml to another name and replaced it wil the new file and renamed it to Mach3Mill.xml. When I loaded Mach3 the front screen had dissapeared!!!! reveresed the process and it came back, tried again and same problem, any ideas please?

Question Wrong Version.

You version of Mach3 does not match the version used to create the config file or it maybe the screen set file. In that case I think you need MachSteelBlue.set.

If you don't have that file, make a copy of your ???.SET file and rename the copy to that and try again. It will probably work. The zipped .XML file expects MachSteelBlue.set to exist and be available.

Frans. Please state what version Mach3 you are using.

I have tried all 3 profiles that have been posted now, i have both MachSteelBlue.set and 1024.set installed and the Mach3 main screen now comes up OK. After a week I still have a very expensive paper weight!!!!! AGGHHHHHH

The stepper motors are all warm/hot but nothing happens. is this correct?

There is however an "ABMORMAL CONDITION" error showing. On one profile it says "Axis not refed to normal condition" on another profile it says an error on planes G17, G18 and G19. Any clues here?

One thing I have found and I dont think is very good, is that the end stop microswitches do not work in manual mode, and allows the beds to exceed the end stop position. I dont know if they work only in CNC mode yet as i cant get it working!!!

Any help please?

Exclamation warmth.

On the stepper driver switch 1 should be set to OFF to enable current reduction after the axis stops for longer than 0.3 sec.
I believe they come from factory in the ON position, which is where the switch needs to be to be able to set and adjust the current. The factory just leaves the switch on, hence the steppers get really hot, and the power supply works overtime, especially if you have a 4th axis connected.
The micro switches are for homing and referencing. I have seen no documentation on the control system when not in CNC mode so have no idea whether the switches do anything other then change bits on the BOB.
If you jog at fast speed with the pendant you can skip steps on the steppers. Again, I have not seen any documentation other the the pins allocated to the BOB, and even then nothing to say what you do with them or what the jumpers on the BOB do.
ASK FOR DOCUMENTATION. Unless the we oil the squeaky wheel it will still make a noise. Ask and Demand documentation. While Syil accept undocumented stuff from East Crystal, and don't address this problem complaints and misunderstandings will continue.

Been away for a few weeks and came back fully refreshed and ready for a battle of wills against my nice new X4. I now have another computer, stripped of all unecessary programs as advised, a nice new X4, a fully registered copy of Mach 3, all the new profiles that have been sent (thanks to all that sent them) and so far........ NOTHING UNTIL......

Hugh from Syil UK diagnosed th eproblem and came up with a fix. Have not cut anything yet but it moved under CNC control

Well done Syil UK, Thanks

Why doesn't the machine ship with a manual and a copy of the profile ?
As Neil says shout up, this is totally unacceptable.
You are not buying a supported product but just a machine from a reseller.

How many times in this forum has another country had to come to the aid of a user.?

PR.

As annoyed as I was with not being able to get my machine running I must say that the reseller, Hugh at Syil UK has been extremely helpful. He needs more supoort from Syil and they do need to provide more data with this nice little machine.

The manuals are virtually non existant and in my opinion a comprehensive manual, albeit in paper or CD form should ship with the machine along with a proper profile.
