We are thinking of purchasing the Syil C6 cnc lathe for producing small wooden components (from 15mm to 75mm in diameter) in batches of 10 - 50 at a time. Has anyone had experience of this machine for wood turning? Is any special tooling required? Is the machine reliable? The price is attractive and we dont need the capacity of higher volume, more expensive machines Thanks Hilary |

| For off the shelf sharp inserts, the ones designed for aluminum have lots of top rake and work well on wood. The sawdust will sure soak up the oil on the screws and slides. Make sure you oil it daily. Teflon stuff on the slides is great. You need to add oil at the ball nut to do it properly. Just putting it on the screw is not so good. |

| Utilization and enjoyment is what life is all about. Google Turners Cube. Some of those made out of wood would be quick, neat and easy. SX3 and X4+ is big enough to make real Ultralight Aircraft Propellers. Make lots of dust, but cleaning up sucks.
