I'm very new to CNC and just taken delivery of a X4+. I have succesfully set up Mach3 to the machine with the exception of the way the E-stop and Spindle runs. From pressing the E-stop there is quite a delay before the system stops, also when releasing the stop button the spindle starts up again, 'very dangerous", Estop is enabled Port 1 Pin 13 (also tied Pin 11 as per X4 manual) I have tried enabling the Charge Pump but this confuses the spindle which then tries to run in both directions at the same time. HELP!!!

Martin, the documentation for the Mach setup from Syil is wrong - took me ages to find out what all the problems were (there are several). If you send me a message here off forum then I will email you back my xml file for Mach. The e-stop takes about 5 secs to work on my machine too. You might want to see the post I just made about the things that I have encountered over the two months that I've had an x4. Rick PS - after posting this, it occurred to me that others might want my Mach3 config file too, so I am appending it here. Change the name to Mach3Mill.xml if you want it to be the default at startup. This one fixes the problems with charge pump and spindle startup, curve drawing, e-stop enabling, motor tuning, and a few other things I found along the way. One warning - there is still a problem getting x4 spindle speed control to work properly from Mach. See my post on my x4 experiences in this forum today for more info. Rick |

| Martin. I sent you a message to contact us for our Mach3 profile for the X4. We have our X4 working beautifully. Don't try and use the X3 profiles for mach 3 and the Pins etc are all different and yes the Charge pump needs to be enabled in Mach3. Port 1 Pin 9. Active low ticked. Even though you didn't buy your X4 from us we want to help you get set up correctly. Send us an email and we'll send you our Mach3 profile. cheers Frans www.toolmach.com.au

| To disable the charge pump, remove the charge pump cable from the breakout board and put a jumper in pins 2-3 in the attached picture, remove Cable F (white 2 wires) and put the jumper instead. |

| Sure. Disable the charge pump while getting it going but you SHOULD really get it working before doing any serious work. It does have an IMPORTANT function. If the PC stops or, Mach3 wants an INSTANT STOP, the 12.5KHz signal going out the pin allocated to the charge pump stops, and thereby stops the feed instantly.
