Hi, Im looking at purchasing an SX3 / SX3CNC but have a few questions.... SX3CNC = $~$8000nz SX3 : $3000nz Syil CNC kit: $4000nz Are there any other kits available for conversion of an SX3? better or worse than syil kit? I dont mind the fact Ill may need to make / adapt parts when fitting kit but what options are there?? Anything else I should be aware of with the SX3? From the threads ive found there were a few issues when released a few years back but sounds they have been sorted by Syil on all recently purchased units? Thanks Adam |

| Adam. My recommendation is not to purchase an SX3 as Sieg still have problems with the electronics.... the issue is they are only really designed for 110v. As soon as you put 240v it can and often does cause problems... We stopped selling the SX3 as the failure rate was over 60%... The problem with the SX3 was NOT due to the Syil conversions.... the Syil conversions have been great... no stepper or driver failures at all. It was and is the Sieg electronics. The new X4Plus is far superior to the SX3.... better electrics.. designed as CNC and not a conversion, faster rapids, one shot oiling etc, etc... You should be able to purchase the X4Plus for around the NZ$7000.. The prices you quoted sounded awfully high?... where from?. cheers Frans |

| Hi Frans, Prices quoted are form Brian @ mtm tools (micro tech machines palmy) I have adjusted to include GST The X4Plus looks a very nice machine, is there any way to have some sort of manual control over it? without needing all your jobs done in CAD? this is my main reason for considering the SX3 real time control via software? like small box with knobs which control x,y,z would be nice. cheers Adam |

| you can get pendants with manual pulse generators, these are little wheels with encoders on them that allow you to manually move each axis. This is supported in mach (machine control software), and there are several manufacturers of pendants, or DIY details on this forum. Also mach has support for quick on-screen macros for doing simple tasks without resorting to CAM. |

| Adam. The X4Plus comes with a Hand Held MPG which can be used without the computer being switched on... The MPG is great.. you can do all of your jogging, machining, setup using the MPG alone. Check with Brian at mtm tools I am sure he is getting some X4Plus machines. If Brian cannot help you we can send to NZ... cheers Frans ToolMach
