I just opened a can of Syil x4! ![]() It is outside right now, plan on getting it down to the basement during the evening. It looks to be the first one in the word!? At least it is the first one in Norway! Anny advice on getting it a few kilos lighter for the big down the stairs scenario? ![]() Did a cowardly atemt to take off the table, but i wimped out, beeing scared to f**k something up. TNT has lost the shipment of papers from syil somewhere, so I dont have the manuals yet. |

| Yew lucky luck bugster! I have a super x3 with 4th axis and I live in a flat may I sugest some pointers?. If you are going to manualy carry it down - strip it into peices and make a wiring diagram, take your time and double check. I did and had no problems, you are going to have to any way to clean and possibly lap the ways. also if possible get a friend to help I did'nt it is possible to reassemble on the stand, hard but possible but then I'm stupid. good luck you lucky man. roger x3 (should be roger sx3 ha ha)

| I will post some pics soon, just need to get it down first. I found a "getting started" manual on the web, and have now taken the table off. Will try to move it later today. Will there be a lot of wireing trouble to take the complete head off? |

| Sounds like you've got a nice challenge on your hands. I'd say this was the perfect opportunity to take it apart if you need to do it to ease moving as this will allow you to clean/inspect it. It's always nice to have a manual, but I doubt you'll be missing that much. Taking loads of pictures whilst dismantling and unplugging is your best bet to putting back together successfully. It'd be quite nice to see how its constructed |

| How is the fit and finish? Is it better then the pcitures on the Syil Canada website (they show overspray of yellow paint on the spindle, ways, etc... looks like someone just slopped on the paint after assembly without bothering to make much effort at masking). pictures, pictures, pictures... |

| I want his lubrication system. If the back is anything like the X3, while you have the back off, install a piano hinge on the side where all the wiring is and put a power receptacle on the other side for the pump and a light. I use a magnetic lamp as a power indicator.

| Use a dial indicator. Get them as tight as practical without stalling the steppers. You should be able to get them within 0.02mm if all is parallel. For X and y, keep rapiding backwards and forwards at 2500mm/min and tighten until the steppers skip steps, then back off a bit. Use 1500 in Z. The gas strut (if the SX4 has one) needs to be about 45kg my factory one was 60KG which is much too high. The 60KG causes the Z axis to bounce around instead of sitting firmly on the ball screw. This gives irregular machining marks.
