Will the Super X3 or X4 do this?

    Greetings,
I am thinking of purchasing a CNC for knife building. There was a picture of some students milling knifes in last months HAAS magazine.

Would the Super X4 be able to mill out knives in 01/D2 tool steel and SS? I know that the feed rates would have to be reduced compared to these monster CNC mills. I am also thinking of some incredible ideas for inlay handles, etc.

Please provide any feedback on the X3 and/or X4 (or any other mill you may suggest).

    Regards,
    Dennis

Personally for the knife blanks I would have someone laser them. Regarding the scales or handles the X3 or X4 should be able to handle the job.

I'm not familiar with 01/D2 steel but I just did something similar to that on 304SS and it was 1/2" thick.
