A good question. 260 oz on X and Y are in the Talg & Sherline league aren't they? I don't know enough to know if this is adequate or not so also hoping for comments from those with experience with these. Based on what seems to be the norm, I do hope the Z is more rather than having to start hanging counterweights off the head. The obvious related question, I imagine, is whether or not the controller has enough "juice" to make the most of these steppers max capabilities when they are all working together. I'm not trying to be negative; simply doing my homework as I'm also interested in getting a CNC mill and lathe setup around this size. |

| Is the Syil X3 adequate to do light production work? As gerryv said, 260 oz-in seem a little small for this machine. I know the x3 is not meant to be a large production machine, but I would like the possibility of doing LIGHT production work in the future. With that said, is the machine itself the limiting factor, or are the steppers/drivers the limiting factor when doing very heavy cuts? |

Hi, I have one of the first SX3 machines and haven't had any problem with lack of power on any of the axis's. I can tell you from experience that the X axis will snap off a 3/16" end mill without slowing down. I haven't had the pleasure?? of breaking anything larger yet. It will handle a .100 cut in mild steel with the 3/16" mill with no problem. OM |

http://www.cnczone.com/forums/showthread.php?t=50292 Steppers are more than adequate, running X,Y rapids at 2500mm/min (100 IPM)
