I've just ordered a shiny new C6 lathe from SyiL Canada (Thanks Keith!) and I'd like to start planning for its arrival. I wish there was more technical info on SyiL's site. Could someone with a C6 help me with these questions? -input voltage (110v 60Hz AC?) -spindle bore -spindle nose thread Has anyone worked out ballscrew covers? I'd like to keep them clear of chips. I think it's asking for trouble to leave them exposed. |

Glad to see you are getting a New C6 Lathe! The input voltage is std. 110 The Spindle bore is .812 The Chuck is mounted on the Spindle with 3 M10x1.5 Studs & Nuts. Before you remove the chuck for the first time, Take a center punch or a metal stamp and mark the Mounting Flange and the Chuck,So that you can always mount it back to its Origional Factory Location. The "Z" axis Lead Screw has a cover on it and it wont get Chips on any part of it. The "X" axis Lead Screw is concealed and wont get any chips on it either. Use Way Oil (if you can get it) to lubricate the ways and everything else. Keep it Oily. Use High Quality Tooling. I use Dorian & Kennametal... It is not hard to hold a close tolerance with the Lathe if you have a solid tool post and good tooling. I took the Compound Slide off of my Lathe and made a riser block and Put a Quick Change tool Post on it. Very Rigid! Ok well I hope to hear more about your New Lathe and if you need any help,I will be more than willing to give it to you Bob |
