I have a Syil Super x3 that is about 4 months old but is used almost everyday and now I need to Adjust my backlash... How is this done...I have .038 in X and .027 in Y...Z I have .032 I have looked the Ballscrews over but not sure how to Adjust them... I tried to set backlash in mach 3 but it gouges the corners, would rather get mechanical backlash within a thou or 2 Thanks Last edited by cnccustom; 11-19-2007 at 08:44 PM. |

| Wooo. That's insane amounts of backlash. The ballnuts would explode with that much. The ballnuts are pre-loaded so there is not adjustment. The only place to adjust backlash out is in the coupler set screws and pre-loading the angular contact bearings in the motor block interface. First place I'd look is the coupler set screws. I'll bet they are loose.

| That's the one. At about .01" the ballnuts would basically eat themselves up. A little locktite blue is a good thing on machines that are used in a production enviroment. NO RED. That will keep things from loosening up after working it hard.
