how to adjust Backlash.

I have a Syil Super x3 that is about 4 months old but is used almost everyday and now I need to Adjust my backlash...

How is this done...I have .038 in X and .027 in Y...Z I have .032

I have looked the Ballscrews over but not sure how to Adjust them...

I tried to set backlash in mach 3 but it gouges the corners, would rather get mechanical backlash within a thou or 2

Thanks

Wooo. That's insane amounts of backlash. The ballnuts would explode with that much.

The ballnuts are pre-loaded so there is not adjustment. The only place to adjust backlash out is in the coupler set screws and pre-loading the angular contact bearings in the motor block interface.

First place I'd look is the coupler set screws. I'll bet they are loose.

I checked the Couplers and they were loose but I still have .016 in X .012 in Y
.015 in Z......

What is pre-loading the angular contact bearings in the motor block interface.

don't quite understand this.....any info on this appreciated

Thanks

Thanks we figured it out today........you must have been refering to the brass nut in front of the coupler.....they were loose too

Got it back in within .0005 on Y and .001 on X .001 on Z...

Plenty good for what we are doing

That's the one. At about .01" the ballnuts would basically eat themselves up. A little locktite blue is a good thing on machines that are used in a production enviroment. NO RED. That will keep things from loosening up after working it hard.
