Hi I have the speed doubler pulley, and noticed that on some extended surfacing operations (say 30-60 minutes at 3000rpm), the spindle and head get very warm. The spindle holder itself seems to get to the 180F range- Ill have to measure again. Just wondering if this is normal for the SX3, or if perhaps my bearings are too tight. As the SX3 has no cooling in the head itself, this may well be normal (but I suspect, not very good for the bearings)... Regards, Rob |

| I run mine flatout at 3600 RPM nearly all the time (for hours at a time) Spindle gets quite hot. If it does not burn you it will survive (I think, I hope, oh well) I wish the display would not read 1800 RPM for 3600. They say there is a jumper to change, but stuffed if I can find it. I have learnt to multiply by two. I gave up programming speeds on Mach 3. Waste of time, when there is no tool changer. I just select speed manually, and all the program needs is a M00 and a comment to say the tool and speed.

| You say some of your jobs are 10 hours long. Even though the spindle will heat up. They can handle quite alot of heat. Long periods like this will require you to re-pack your spindle bearing though. Recommended is about 500 hours. When you do re-pack them, use a high grade, high temp grease. Nice thing too, the bearings are inexpensive if you ever do need to replace them.

| Hi Neil, The SyilAmerica web site has a file in the support tab that describes the jumper location and settings and it includes circuit board diagrams so you can visualize the location of the jumper as well. Here is a link to the file: http://www.syilamerica.com/docs/SUPE...structions.pdf Hope this helps you get the correct speed displayed.
