Hi, I thought that I would give others my solution to the problem of the digital vernier moving rule potentially shorting out on the front panel keypad board. My thanks to Kevin on another post for alerting me to this design issue. I also thought that I would start a new thread to give this issue some prominence in the hope that other will benefit from my experience and save themselves an expensive failure. Please find attached my modification procedure and a drawing of the part referenced in the procedure. Anyone with a lathe would be able to make this simple part (you will need to make 7 identical parts). The procedure outlines the problem and describes a solution. I have successfully applied this modification to my machine this arvo (Australian for this afternoon). Happy Milling Regards Chrisjh Edit 29Aug07 I realized that the button drawing previously posted had the wrong diameter. I have posted Rev B of the drawing showing that the diameter of the button is 8.5mm (changed from 10mm diameter). This is so the button will fit through the holes in the front panel with plenty of clearance. Regards Chrisjh Last edited by Chrisjh; 08-28-2007 at 06:25 PM. | Thanks for posting this Chrisjh. I was aware of the potential problem but had done nothing about it. Your post reminded me it would be better to not wait for a catastrophe and do something about it now. ![]() Being lazy I went for a simpler solution. Had some mylar material and made a protective shield. Spot of hot melt glue. And Bob's your uncle. ![]() Thanks, Greg |
