Syil machines are an excellent value, but realize there isn't as much documentation as there should be, and that problems can take a long while to sort out, and will go ALOT faster if you know what you are doing. Syil America will support you, but it might not go as fast as you would like.

If you don't mind spending the extra money, the Tormach would be even better.

The machine is far better overall, and the documentation is top notch. However, it's about $3000 more.

Hi People,
I did this the long way. As part of a group, we purchased the Sieg X3 mills. Then I purchased the steppers, ball screws and all the switches, brackets and bits from Syil Australia. They had to go back to Syil in China for answers on a couple of loose ends but clear, understandable replies were received within 24 hours of my initial e-mail.
The Syil parts were first class, the X3 is great also. Just that me being a bit greedy, I replaced the 600W DC motor including it's rectifier and drive with a 230V, 3 ph, 0.75kW, aluminium frame motor. I am controlling the motor with a Hitachi 1ph to 3ph VFD and the Syil CNC with a PK (made here in Perth) controller. It is not quite to the running stage yet but is less than four weeks away, I'm sure.
From my current position, I'm delighted with the equipment obtained from both Sieg and Syil. Have had it all apart and, based on my 45 years in the machining and engineering industry, I have to say that I'm very happy with what I have. Especially all the alignments being held with taper pins! It is going to do a lot of useful work for me, I'm sure.
