I finally got my X3 ready to settup after 7 months now. All electronic upgrades are complete. But I can't get the Mach 3 configured now. I have the Syil america XML file but I don't know what the hell to do with it. There are no instructions. My machine is working but the computor won't communicate with it until it's settup properly. I did notice something odd though.... When I had it running, a guy I was with was playing with the spindle speed control on the mill itself and the DRO was reading 4500RPM.... So I told him to shut it off. I wonder if that means it can actually run there or if that would actually damage the mill and I shouldn't run it up there? |

| Are you using the Mach3 loader? If not open Mach3 through it and select the Syil profile. As for the spindle, you shouldn’t be able to over rev it manually or through G code. Also if you have not, I would suggest cleaning and greasing your spindle bearings. |

| When you installed Mach3 it should have installed several shortcuts on your desktop. If you start the program with the Mach3Mill shortcut, you'll see if you examine the shortcut's properties that it invokes Mach3 with the command, "C:\Mach3\Mach3.exe /p Mach3Mill". You need to 1. Copy the SyilAmericaX3.xml profile file to the Mach3 directory, and 2. Change the command in the shortcut to, "C:\Mach3\Mach3.exe /p SyilAmericaX3" That worked for me anyway. Note there are other things that need to be changed in the Syil profile to get it to work properly (at least, I did). Unfortunately, I'm a newbie, too, and didn't make a list of them. If you go through the Mach 3 installation tutroial, it's pretty straight forward, however. |

| I thought that was the problem. Now It's accessing the profile, but the machine is not getting any messages from the control. I have another computor of the exact same model running my lathe, so I know it's not the parrallel port itself.... maybe it's the configuration of the port? I'm not even getting motor hum. Nothing. When I turn the spindle on manually, it doesn't recognize the spindle speed on the control. |

Green0 There was a blurb that came out from Syil about starting the motor under cnc control. With the switch in CNC mode, when you start the Mach3 program, the spindle comes up in the "Locked" mode. You have to punch the "Start" button on the pad to get it to run under computer control. At least that works for me. OM |
