X3 conversion kit problem

I am working on converting my super X3 using the Syil Kit, and I have run into a problem with the Z axis. The ballscrew mounting flang does not even come close to matching the holes for the original Z axis mounting point. The original brass nut for the acme screw is much larger then the the ballscrew. I need to find a way to make sure the ballscrew is centered in the in the original hole for the acme screw and to bolt it in place and I am not sure what to do at this point.

Has any one else run into this during their conversions ?

Could you let me kown your SX3 more info?your buy it in right now or long time before?
becuase we face this kind problem usually in mounting hole of original.sieg X3 some time not complete same for some machinary working, becuase the casting hardly 100% same every time.that is why we don`t make any mounting hole right now.
about your problem, please let me konw your X3 Z axis length, then i can konw it is my ballscrew short or your machine z zxis screw postion have problem.
then we can konw how to fix it.
if you have pic better sent to syil america too.thank you.
Your sincerely~

Have a look at this post. It has pics.

http://www.cnczone.com/forums/showpo...3&postcount=20

You will see that I made a spacer to center the ballnut.

There are a few other issues that may need addressing.

Have a read of that whole thread if you can be bothered.

Some of the things that I needed to do, hopefully Syil will have fixed by now.

Feel free to ask if I can assist in any way.

I bought the mill a little over a year ago. the length of the z screw is fine. From the looks of gregs post, he is showing exactly what I am talking about. So it looks like the original hole for the bearing is the correct size. Now I need to see if can come up with a spacer so I can center the ballnuts to mark the mounting holes.

greg,

do you know what size i need to tap the mounting holes for the ballnut in the Z axis ?

also I can I bribe you to make me a matching spacer, I know I am not going to be able to mark the mounting holes unless I find something

SYIL,

I think I can work out the mounting of the Z axis. I do need to know the specks for the bearing that the end of the z axis ballscrew goes into at the top of the column

Also should the the x axis plate in the picture has any mounting holes ?

From memory mine were 4mm.

You may be able to go 5mm but it is not worth the effort to get them precisely in the right spot. Going 4mm gives a little margin. These don't work hard.

I am in Australia so best get someone close to make the spacer for you.

The top bearing does no real work so a cheapy bearing will be fine. Just measure the top housing and the screw spigot end to get the sizes.

The reason the bracket came without holes is that they made a batch with the holes backwards and then tried to tell customers
that this was just sieg variation. So now they don't drill them at all.
