I was wondering if anyone knew the grade of screws that were used in these SX3 mills or in the kits....what does the mounting setup look like? I am not so much concerned with speed as I am with accuracy and repeatability...do any of the owners have any numbers? Thanks Jason |

| Today I will be finishing my testing on our demo unit. Later this afternoon I will publish my findings here. Sorry for the delay, just wanted to make certain of my results.

| Here is my findings thus far. I need to do some fine tuning on the Y and Z axis for backlash. Spindle run-out = .0005" or less Backlash on X axis = .0002" Backlash on Y axis = .0011" Backlash on Z axis = .004" Repeatability = .0004" All tests where conducted on a sampling of 10 tests per setup. A mean average was taken of the test data. Above figures are those averages. These are also from a stock machine without adjustments.

| I was surprised and dismayed at how soft they were when I had to remachine one screw end. Interested to see what info SyilAmerica comes up with. |

| Balls screws are a 420 Stainless Steel. Up to Rockwell Hardness 50HRC. Some of the first machines sold into the U.S. (before our time) was with a softer grade. One I'm not sure of.
