ah...never mind. Thorough testing of electrical components seems to show the transformer died. It's odd it would die with near no use on it, but such is life.
I got the x5 speedmaster a few months ago. Some friends sent me a few simple codes to run in mach..machine works fine.
Now it's been several weeks, haven't touched machine in any way. I have been busy learning the visual mill software so i can make my own files.
ok..now finally made my very first file with visual and got the codes, they all simulate perfect. So i load codes on card and take to shop and load them into mach.
I turn on machine. It's dead. I fiddle with it, check the power cord, plug a drill in, works fine. I hit down big switch in back looks like a breaker. I flip it back up. machine powers right up. I think nothing of it, good to go!
now i set the machine up, zero in the part, fire in the hole, the software is running! it's an 18hr program, cutting a 3d dragon about 1.25x2 inch total size in a piece of scrap mahogany..a test run for the program and speeds and all..i got it cutting real gentle..that's why the 18hrs. anyhow....
I take dog out for his business, it's been an hour, i check machine. I hear noise still, sounds good. I walk over and the spindle is spinning, but table is not moving. it's stuck in a spot on the code. don't know if it's a code issue or machine issue. either way, i hit mach reset. nothing happens, spindle still whirring away. so i hit reset on machine. still, spindle keeps going. I turn off power switch. machine stops. Good deal right? so now i turn machine back on..it's dead. wtf..so i flip that breaker again. doesn't help. i try many times, can't get squat for juice. i grab the manual..says check switch. i get my meter out, check switch, i have juice in, and out. I unplug machine, check and pull on every single wire in the machine..all looks good. fuse bad? nope, fuse is good. I got power going in to nothingness. machine is dead, i'm lost on what's wrong.
my program simulation runs perfect all the way through. I'm thinking the program never had a fault now that i see the machine is having a power up issue..the machine did something, crashed..although not crashed into anything, just crashed like froze in spin mode.

Very weird. My transformer did over the weekend. Syil America walked over replacing it. A trip to Radioshak and $10 later, well and a couple of hours to take the back of the enclosure out and put it back -- up and running again.
I've been very pleased with dealing with these guys and any issues I've had so far. What was the trip to radio shack for? No way they would have this transformer, the things a monster...or I wouldn't think so anyhow. Especially for $10
May be it was a different transformer. Mine was a small 110v to 12v thing that powers the board where the lpt and stepper cables plug in.
