    NEW CNC LATHE...

    To SYIL:

With all the work that you are doing on improving your existing line and creating new product, I wanted to say THANK YOU.

BUT...you are neglecting an unserviced niche of the market.

    Where is a CNC lathe?

Please don't tell me about the C6, that is a dated design lacking the features that small shops and hobby machinists are looking for.

Develop a 12x36 CNC benchtop lathe with a 1.625-1.75" thru bore, that can run a tool turret or gang-tool setup. Spindle speed up to 4000 rpm, 6000 rpm would be better for small parts. 5hp brushless spindle motor. Ability to run a 5C collet chuck with pneumatic closer, as well as 3, 4 & 6 jaw manual chucks. A guard that travels with the apron...a full enclosure would be better. Flat bed is fine, slant bed is better. Cast iron stand. 1500-2000 pounds. Make it fit in a 3ftx5ft footprint.

I promise you, you will sell as many as you can make. Do it...do it NOW, before another company does it first and you are playing catch up.

You build that lathe, and I will buy it from you. Along with an X7 and a whole bunch of accessories.

As long as the price is under 2000.

    hello,

Just to keep you up dated, i just got back from china a few weeks back. When i was there one of the things we were working on was the lathe.
Most of the things you you had mentioned is on track with what we have been working on.
We will keep you posted on progress, and pricing.

    Keith,

Can we get some details on what you plan on developing?

Will the lathe be based off an existing manual lathe converted to CNC with steppers and electronics or do you plan to start from the ground up?

Will the lathe be capable of threading? If so, how do plan on achieving this?

Tailstock? On ways like a manual or separate rails for carriage and tailstock like on the industrial CNC lathes.

    Thanks,
    Adam

Under $2000 for a 12x36 CNC Lathe? While they are at it, do you want a brand new car for $5000 too? Or maybe a new house in the suburbs for $20,000?

This was a serious post, not a joke. Contribute to the thread, don't pollute it.

Ok, what size is this new lathe?

And you should seriously consider a small slant-bed lathe to complement a machine like the X7...not a "toy", but not a full blown commercial machine either.

Yep the Lathe is a great idea. I mentioned it many many months ago. Is there any intension of a turret for multi tool loading? Alos have you looked at any of the modern CNC lathes? Many now use the linear slides for the axis's?

    Looks good,
    Ant
