How can I change machine coordinates imported from solidworks?

Not familiar with Solidworks, but with most imported files we move them in Surfcam using the Edit>Transform>Move>Location/Rotate commands to get the item you want to machine aligned with the machine axis. You can also use the C-view to create temporary Machine Datum cordinates without moving the part. Check the help files on how to do this. Hope this helps.

If you have Solidworks, go to Insert, Reference Geometry, Coordinate System and make a coordinate system to align the part to the way that you want to machine it. When you get that done, then save it as a Parasolid file, .xt, use the options dialog and on the bottom of that box, click on "output coordinate system" and choose the coordinate system that you created. In Surfcam, then open the parasolid file and it will orient the Solidworks part to the view that you created. Or as the above poster said, use C-view to orient the model. The help file will tell you how to do that.

good luck

Another solution to the part not being placed in view 1 could be to make a construction view that would memic View 1 and use it for your machining. if you do not understand construction views contact your dealer. if you get good with construction views you will save a ton of time.
